There are several different ways to remove pubic hairs ranging from easy and inexpensive to high-tech and pricey. Some girls trim it or go to the salon to have a bikini wax, others just shave it. Removing pubic hairs is a personal choice as there is no health benefit related to it. You really need not do it for any health reasons, sexual or otherwise, other than sweat odour. In fact, researches have suggested that removing your pubic hair may not be the best choice for your sexual health. So, the pro and cons of each method of pubic hair removal are discussed below.
1)Shaving:
Shaving is definitely one of the easiest and quickest ways to get rid of hair since all you need is a clean razor and some cream or gel. However, shaving pubic hair comes with its own possible negative outcomes such as cuts, ingrown hairs, cutting open sores, and spreading STDs. Results are also short-lived. Your genital area may feel itchy and prickly. To minimize these effects, try to use a new, sharp razor each time, or take a warm bath or shower before shaving.
2)Waxing:
Waxing pubic hair can be done at home or at a salon. It can be quite painful, but it tends to last longer than shaving. Extreme caution must be taken while applying hot wax as it can result in a burn. Waxing is also associated with skin inflammation, red bumps, discoloration, ingrown hairs, and torn skin. Risk of infection increases when you get your waxing done from an unhygienic salon that does not change wax or clean equipment between clients.
3)Hair removal creams:
Hair removal creams and gels are the painless methods of hair removal. These creams use chemicals to help melt hair away hence are generally not recommended for the genital area. One must do a patch test for skin sensitivity before using them as these creams can cause irritation, burns, or discomfort in sensitive areas. Results will only last a couple of days at the most. Be careful as hair removal creams contain harsh chemicals which can leave a chemical burn, especially in the delicate bikini zone.
4) Tweezing:
Tweezing involves plucking hairs with a pair of tweezers. it is an effective method but can be very time consuming and painful. Be careful while tweezing as too sudden or forceful plucking can cause hair follicle injury which can lead to infection and irritation.
1) Electrolysis:
In this method, a needle-shaped electrode is inserted in the hair follicle to destroy the hair root with an electric current. It is a permanent form of hair removal. Even though the result is long-lasting, it can be quite painful. As each hair follicle is to be treated individually it requires repeated treatment for up to 12 to 18 months. Other side effects include infection, keloid formation and, pigmentation.
2)Laser hair removal:
It is a permanent hair removal procedure. In laser removal, your doctor or dermatologist uses a laser device which emits a strong beam of light targeting the pigments in the hair follicles which weakens or destroy hair follicle keeping the hair from growing back. It is best for dark hair and light skin. it is must to wear protective eyewear throughout the procedure. Results vary from person to person and some may notice temporary redness and swelling after treatment. It can result in darkening of genital skin and burns. So, if you are thinking of choosing this method it is advised to first find a health care provider who is certified and has experience with performing laser hair removal.
