Psoriasis

Psoriasis is an autoimmune chronic condition that appears on skin as red or pink plaques of raised, thick scaly skin. Although it can also appear as small, flat bumps or large thick plaques. Psoriasis is a long term condition but with proper treatment, you can manage the symptoms effectively. Everybody is different, so time for treatment depends on the severity and duration of the condition. Some of the commonly indicated medicines are:

  • ARSENIC IODATUM
  • PETROLEUM
  • GRAPHITES
  • PSORINUM
  • SEPIA
  • CHRYSAROBINUM
  • MANGANUM ACETICUM
  1. Arsenic iodatum: Dry, scaly, itchy skin. Marked exfoliation of skin in large scales, leaving a raw exuding surface beneath. Ichthyosis, debilitating night sweats. Psoriasis, eczema of the beard, oozing, itching, worse, washing. Hard, shotty, indurated acne with pustule at apex.
  2. 2. Petroleum : Psoriasis where deep cracks on the skin is dry, constricted, very sensitive, rough and cracked, leathery. Slightest scratch makes skin suppurate. Thick greenish crusts, burning and itching, redness, raw, cracks bleed easily.
  3. Graphites: Most suited to patients having tough or leathery skin with cracks and soreness. Morning aggravation, psoriasis with constipation. Itching is often worse after getting warm.
  4. Psorinum: the affected area in this medicine is fine, red eruptions covered with white scales which worsen in cold weather. The skin looks dirty and greasy, itching appears and scratching brigs temporary relief.
  5. Sepia: Psoriasis characterized by the presence of big oval lesion on the skin. Best suited in patients with foul odor from the eruptions over the face chest, back, arms and legs. Weakness, irritability and indifference are usually present with the common symptoms of psoriasis.
  6. 6. Chrysarobinum: Acts as a powerful irritant of the skin and is used successfully in skin diseases especially in ringworm, psoriasis, and herpes. Lesions associated with foul smelling discharge and crust formation. Violent itching, thighs, legs and ears. Dry, scaly eruptions, especially around eyes and ears, scabs with pus underneath.
  7. Manganum aceticum: Psoriasis and pityriasis. Suppuration of skin around joints. Red, elevated spots on skin. Itching, better, scratching. Deep cracks in bends of elbow. Chronic eczema associated with amenorrhea.
