What is tTg IgA serum test?

It stands for tissue transglutaminase IgA test. This test is done as a part of the assessment of some autoimmune diseases, most specifically celiac disease. It is done either to diagnose the condition or to check on people with this condition. It checks for the immunoglobulins in the blood circulation, produced by the immune system.

What if the tTg IgA serum test is positive?

The positive result indicates the presumptive celiac disease, and it should be followed by an intestinal biopsy to confirm the condition.

What if the tTg IgA serum test is negative?

The negative tTg IgA means all the symptoms observed are not caused by this condition and require further assessment.
