What are triglycerides?
Triglycerides are the most common form of fat found in the blood. Triglyecerides come from the high calories in the diet. High intake of calories which is not required at the same time converted into triglycerides and stored in fat cells. Whenever the body requires energy it releases the triglycerides.

The triglyceride test measures the amount of triglyceride present in the circulation.
What is the normal value of triglyceride level?
- Normal level – < 150 milligrams per deciliter (mg/dL)
- Borderline high – 150 to 199 mg/dL
- High – 200 to 499 mg/dL
- Very high – 500 mg/dL or above
What is it used for?
It is used to check the higher risk of heart disease, stroke or any other arterial disease such as peripheral arterial disease.
Why do I need to check my triglyceride level?
