What is the FSH test?
FSH stands for Follicle Stimulating Hormone. It is an important hormone of the reproductive system. The FSH responsible for the growth of ovarian follicles and it is a glycoprotein gonadotropin secreted by the anterior pituitary in response to gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH) released by the hypothalamus.
Why the FSH test is needed?
This test checks how much of “FSH” (follicle-stimulating hormone) is in your blood or urine because it control the function of reproductive system.
What is the normal value of FSH test?
During puberty – 0.3 to 10.0 mIU/mL (0.3 to 10.0 IU/L)
Reproductive womens – 4.7 to 21.5 mIU/mL (4.5 to 21.5 IU/L)
After menopausal age – 25.8 to134.8 mIU/mL (25.8 to 134.8 IU/L)
