What is bleeding time?

It is defined as the time taken by the clotting factors and the platelets to stop the bleeding and form a clot by blood vessels constriction. It measures how quickly the bleeding stops.

What is the normal bleeding time?

Normally, the bleeding time is 1-9 minutes.

What does the prolonged bleeding time indicate?

If it takes 9-15 minutes, there is platelets dysfunction.

If it takes more than 15 minutes, it is critical and requires external pressure.
