What is an epinephrine serum test?
Epinephrine is a catecholamine also called adrenaline and is a test used to measure adrenaline secretion in the blood serum.

What is adrenaline?
It is a hormone secreted by adrenal glands and also from some of the neurons of the nervous system. It is also called a fight hormone which is secreted during stressful situations.
Why is this test done?
This test is done due to the following reasons where the following are suspected:
- Dysfunctioning of adrenal glands
- Addison’s disease
- Adrenal hyperplasia
- Cushing’s syndrome
- Adrenal adenoma
- Ganglioneuroma tumour
What is the normal value of it?
The normal adrenaline level in the blood is from 0- 900 pg/ml
