Anemia is a disease which is caused by reduced hemoglobin level in the blood. It occur due to excessive blood loss, reduced production of red blood cell, iron –deficient diet, abnormalities in the upper gastrointestinal tract where most of the dietary iron is absorbed. Haem iron is obtained from animal foods and non – haem iron obtained from plant foods are the two forms of dietary iron.

• FRUITS:
–Fruits such as apples and tomatoes, plums, bananas,lemons,pomegranate, raisins, oranges, figs, carrots help in treating the anemia.
• HONEY
Honey is a potent source of iron, copper and manganese. These elements help in the hemoglobin synthesis. Eat honey with banana or apple for iron and energy help in treating anemia.
• MEAT:
Red meat such as kidney, heart and liver are effective in treating anemia. Poultry, fish and oyster are effective against anemia.
• LEGUMES AND NUTS
Legumes and nuts such as pulses, almonds, whole grain cereals, dry dates, peanuts and walnuts are effective in anemia. The combination of iron and Vitamin –B is good for treating anemia.
• BEANS
Folate is found in the beans .Vitamins are usually made from folic acid which is about twice as potent as folate .
