Diet helpful in Crohn’s disease

Crohn disease is an inflammatory bowel disease. It causes inflammation of the lining of the digestive tract which can leads to abdominal pain, severe diarrhea and even malnutrition. The inflammation caused by Crohn’s disease spreads deep into the layers of affected bowel tissue.

Symptoms – Diarrhea, Abdominal pain and cramping, blood in the stool, ulcers, reduced appetite and weight loss , fever , arthritis, mouth sores , inflammation of the liver, delayed growth or sexual development.

Food useful in Crohn’s disease

Almond milk – People with Crohn’s disease are lactose intolerant .Almond milk has vitamin D and E but contains no cholesterol or saturated fat.

Eggs – Eggs in any form scrambled, hard boiled, and soft cooked is very useful in the crohn disease.

Oat meal – Oat meal is a soluble fiber which absorbs water and passes more slowly through your digestive tract. This is one of the good choices in crohn disease.

Vegetable soup – Vegetable soup of pumpkin, carrots are healthy for crohn’s disease. It contains the valuable nutrient of vegetables.

Salmon fish – Fish is extremely beneficial and high in omega -3s like salmon. Lean protein like seafood is the best option. 25% of the calories you eat should come from protein which is a key to healing.

Papaya – Mango and papaya are super high in nutrients and easy to digest. Papaya contains an enzyme papain which helps your body to digest proteins. It is rich in vitamin C, A, folate and potassium.

Poultry – Chicken and turkey are protein –rich and lean. They are mild and easy to digest, and is a protein source for anyone with IBD.

Avocado – It is soft, smooth and full of good fats , vitamin B ,vitamin E , potassium .They are also one of the only fruits which contain digestion –friendly soluble fiber along with the insoluble type.

Roasted red peppers – Brilliant and super tasty, roasted pepper with skin removed are delicious, nutritious for crohn’s disease.

Rice – The person who is suffering from stomach woes, white rice and other carbohydrates are easy on the gut. They provide the calories to the body.

Yogurt – Calcium needs are higher in patients with Crohn’s disease and yogurt is the best source of the calcium. Take low fat yogurt.

Nut butter – Smooth nut butters – peanut, almond, cashew and soy nut butter are good sources of protein and calories. They also provide fiber vitamin E and niacin .Nut butter are incredibly versatile, non perishable and a terrific concentrated sources of calories.

Sweet potato – Sweet potatoes are excellent source of beta –carotene.

Calcium and vitamin D – Cow’s milk is naturally rich in calcium and fortified with vitamin D .People with Crohn’s are increased risk of low bone density because malabsorption ,decreased appetite can increase bone loss and disrupt the stability of healthy bones.

Vitamin C – Vitamin C act as potent antioxidant to fight the inflammatory process. Vitamin C helps to increase the absorption of iron.
