A 25-year-old female from Punjab, India visited our clinic with complaint of Neurodermatitis or Lichen simplex chronicus at nape of neck. She had complaint since past 9 years and itching was unbearable whenever she was stressed. Itching lead to bleeding and severe burning. When she had aggravation, she reported that even water felt like acid. She was tired of using corticosteroid cream. She wanted long lasting solution. She also complained of darkening of skin which occurred due to post inflammatory hyper pigmentation on the affected area.
She was a physiotherapist and had recently finished her studies. She lived with her parents and elder brother. She was planning to go abroad for her higher studies.
Our team of doctors studied her case and prescribed her medicines according to her case. We explained that as this is a chronic case for last 9 years, I would take time to resolve completely.
She visited our clinic again for her follow up after a month and a half and reported slight improvement in itching and her overall stress coping mechanism had also improved a bit.
She kept on giving monthly follow ups and taking treatment for 6 months which lead to considerable improvement. She shifted to USA for further studies which lead to interruption in her treatment for 4 months. She called and complained of recurrence of her skin ailment.
It was explained to her that leaving treatment midway resulted in delay of complete recovery so she started treatment again which was couriered to her in USA. She continued her treatment for 5 more months and reported that she had no itching or burning sensation, it was explained to her that her hyper pigmented mark which occurs due to post inflammatory hyper pigmentation would lighten with time eventually.
She was relived and happy with her improvement. She reported us after her medicines stopped for 6 months, there was no relapse of her skin ailments.
