A 32-year-old Senior sales executive Mr. S.P from Mumbai contacted us via website on 25th March 2018. He was suffering from Ankylosing Spondylitis as he was suffering from joint pain and stiffness in his lumbo-sacral joint. His Cervical joint has also started getting affected. He could barely move occasionally. He was taking immunosuppresant i.e:- methotrexate 8.5 mg 5 days a week. In-spite of that he still had unmanageable pain. He had tried various treatment with little relief. On investigating his HLA-B27 was positive.

His appetite was diminished due to severe pain. His sleep was also disturbed as he was unable to rest on his back due to severe pain.

Our Doctors studied his case and prescribed him medication. It was explained to him that in such cases the pain can be managed and his immuno- suppressant need would reduce.

The patient reported via telephone after taking 7 weeks of medication that is on 16th May 2018 and he reported that his condition was 80% better in terms of his pain and his stiffness had also reduced up to 90%. His dosage of methotrexate had been reduced to 2 times a week from 5 times a week. It was necessary to gradually taper the dose so as to avoid severe aggravation.

Mr. S.P visited personally for his next follow up on 20th June 2018 to Chandigarh. He had stopped taking Methotrexate and still his stiffness and pain was 90% better. He was happy and satisfied with the treatment. We advised him to continue medication for 2 more months to avoid relapse and advised him to report monthly even after he stops taking medicine to keep his case under observation.

The patient is now under observation and he is in remission for the condition of Ankylosing Spondylitis. He reports every month over telephonic so that in case any intervention is required can be done. He has pain occasionally but they are manageable.
